Who Cares About Care?

Only one in four of English voters have faith in the current system in place to care for them in old age. Major polling shows care is a top priority for voters and indicated that among middle aged voters concern about how they will cope in their older years is something that has a high priority. One of the biggest surveys of opinion on the subject ever conducted shows only a quarter of people in England believe they will receive proper care in their old age despite the Coalition’s sweeping reforms of the system.

Research commissioned by an alliance of 75 charities and voluntary organisations involved with elderly and disabled people concludes the care crisis could prove a decisive issue in next year’s general election, with concern as high among middle aged voters as the older generation.
